Cleopatra pot - old fashioned beef stew recipe

During the autumn and winter, I enjoy hearty soups and stews in my crock pot for my family do. I love the fact that I spend a few minutes in the morning prepared it, you can insert into the slow cooker and go away... a few hours later, our dinner is hot and ready to enjoy.

The following recipe was given to me 25 years ago my 83-year-old great aunt. To this day, I enjoy or make it for my family. If you like okra, you can omit the recipeto it certainly. Sometimes, I have the okra with some fresh green beans or peas replaced actually and the stew was simply delicious.

Old fashioned beef stew recipe

2 Pounds beef cubes

1/2 Cup all purpose flour

2 Tablespoons vegetable oil

1 Bay leaf

1 1/2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 Onion, finely chopped

1 Cup beef broth

1 / 2 Teaspoon of ground black pepper

2 Teaspoons salt

2 Teaspoons granulated sugar

4 Carrots, peeled and cut into slices 1 "sections"

1 Cup celery, chopped

4 Potatoes, peeled and diced

4 medium-sized beets, peeled and quartered

4 1/2 Cups water

1 Cup cooked some okra

In a large saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Brown beef of cubes on all sides.

In the crock pot, combine the browned beef cubes, Bay leaves, Worcestershire sauce, onion, broth, pepper, salt, granulated sugar and the fruit in the recipelisted. In 4 1/2 cups water, pour and mix, so that everything is combined.

Cover and the dial on high heat and slowly cook set for 6 hours. Remove lid and stir in flour, if it is required, thicken to the soup. Cover and you turn up the dial additional hours low heat and 1 to 2 simmer.
